When I see potholes on some streets, I can look down into them and they are what seems like at least a foot or two deep into the ground. How much have we actually built the streets up in Chicago and if a lot, how do streets not cave under the pressure of cars and trucks if there is a huge gap between the actual surface road we see and what actually lies beneath?
