Why does a security guard check your bag when you leave the Harold Washington library? Either they are doing a bad job of verifying that we're not leaving with unchecked-out library books (which I thought is what those sensors were for), or they are just serving some psychological purpose so people don't think they can just leave the library freely. It has always confused me. It feels like whatever this policy is needs to be improved.
