My father worked for over 40 years and retired from a grain company located on the Calumet Harbor. He emptied large shipping barges of grain into the tall grain elevators that you see when driving along the Bishop Ford Freeway at 130th Street. After my dad's retirement, the company closed its facilities at the harbor. Dad has long since passed away for me to ask him my question. The harbor looks abandon and appears to have no activity for the past 20 years. Are the grain elevators still in use? Does the City of Chicago use the facility and if so, for what?
