I am curious about the history of 'coach houses' in Chicago. I owned a brick two-flat in Lakeview(Wrigleyville) built in 1880's that had a house on the rear of the property. I always wondered if it was servant quarters for the front house, cheap housing to rent, housing for carriages? I know these houses are all over the city and are little gems that cannot be rebuilt....so what's their story?
