The highway names/numbers confusion aside (Edens and Kennedy vs 94 and 90), the seemingly random landmarks in Chicago traffic reporting (old post office, distance to Montrose), make reports a challenge to understand, even for Chicagoland natives like my husband. Why were the landmarks typical in radio traffic reports chosen?
