Why do Chicagoans call Coke 'pop'? I was born and raised in Louisville, KY but have moved around most of my life and different regions seem to have different words for Coke. In Chicago it's 'pop', other places use 'soda' or 'cola'. In Louisville we say 'coke' (or at least my family does), as in:\ \ 'I'll have a coke.'\ 'What kind of coke would you like?'\ 'A Sprite.'
