Since I moved to Chicago/Hyde Park in 2003, a very large and gorgeous building--the old 10th Church of Christ on Blackstone, between 56th and 57th Streets--has been standing vacant. I would like to know what are the plans for the building and property. The building is very unique, architecturally speaking (the roof is a huge dome), and it would make for a beautiful library, for example. It is a pity it has been vacant all this time when real estate is at a premium in Hyde Park. It had a 'For Sale' sign from a bank at one point but the sign is no longer there. Thank you for explaining the history and future of this building/property.
